PP/RL Robert Laslett
The late Robert Laslett, having a glass of wine following his 1997 David Wills Lecture, "Respecting the Past and Regarding the Present". Photograph by John Cross. His wife Pam is to the right, David Lane to the left. Eyes and hair suggest Marion Bennathan at the bottom left of the picture; seated in the distance beyond David Lane is almost certainly Sheila Gatiss. Any help with others?
Robert Laslett was one of the first wave of new Trustees who, in 1971, joined the three founders of the Planned Environment Therapy Trust to expand its work and bring new energy and ideas in. He was already an accomplished practitioner and rising young academic, who later became David Wills' literary executor, and from that and as a Trustee of the Planned Environment Therapy Trust played a major role in the creation of the Archive and Study Centre in 1989. He remained an active and leading Trustee until his death in 2002.
Robert had helped to establish the AWMC's (Association of Workers for Maladjusted Children) annual David Wills Lecture in 1970, to honour the life and career of David Wills upon his retirement. Now renamed SEBDA (The Social Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties Association), the Association has honoured Robert himself posthumously by adding his name to what is now called the David Wills/Robert Laslett Lecture.
