Miscellaneous Information

Craig's formal training in history and heritage - studying the town of Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, for his doctorate in the Institute of Dialect and Folklife Studies at the University of Leeds - overlapped with ten years living and working in a therapeutic school for disturbed children, during which time he was awarded a research grant by the Folklore Society to explore the role of a "community folklorist" in Chipping Campden, where he worked with school children, heritage organisations, and older members of the community on records, shared experience and oral history.

The Planned Environment Therapy Trust enabled him to explore this role on a grander scale when it asked him to establish its Archive and Study Centre in 1989, the development of which has coincided with the exciting rise of the Internet and its capacity to enrich, reach out, and entertain.

Craig is a Registered Member of the Archives and Records Association, a member of the Oral History Society's Regional Network, a member of the Oral History Society Committee, and a founding member of the Child Care History Network, as well as being course author and tutor in the Centre for Archive and Information Studies in the University of Dundee, and an Honorary Research Fellow in the History of Medicine Unit at the University of Birmingham. He maintains a personal website at craigfees.com.
